Be Good To Yourself

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and every year the goal is to fight the stigma, provide support, educate the public,and for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. Know your worth: SELF CARE is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self esteem.

Here are some ways to get started with your self care routine:

  • Maintain and make uninterrupted sleep apart of self care for 8 hours each night.
  • Take care of your gut by avoiding sugars, greasy foods, salts, processed foods, and saturated fats.
  • Consume more whole grains, greens, unprocessed foods, lean meats, and unsaturated fats. Eat right for yourself.
  • Eat 3 well-balanced meals per day.
  • Exercise daily as part of your self care routine. Engage in a physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Stay away from toxic people,toxic thoughts, and toxic conversations.
  • Engage in positive thoughts and conversations.
  • Say “No’ to others, and say “Yes” to your self care.
  • Practice mindfulness or meditation on a daily basis.
  • Avoid “screen time” and engage in more “in person time”.
  • Take time for yourself

I want to challenge you to small positive changes in your life that can be beneficial to your mind and your body.
